Bangladesh Pavilion
European Seafood Exposition 2005
Bangladesh Pavilion Hall 9 Stand 4317
Like previous years, Bangladesh is participating in the European Seafood Exposition (ESE) 2005 to be held in Brussels on 26 – 28 April 2005 with the aim of establishing the country as a unique global source of high-quality fish and shrimp products. This year, Bangladesh Pavilion, located at Stand 4317 in Hall 9 of Brussels Expo, will host from 50 to 60 Bangladeshi producers, exporters and buying agents.
Bangladesh Pavilion will be officially opened at 11 am on 26 April 2005. Also, a Reception followed by Dinner will be hosted at the Embassy of Bangladesh to provide an additional opportunity for business to business (B2B) dialogue between the Bangladeshi suppliers and international buyers participating in ESE 2005.
Bangladesh Pavilion will be set up under the auspices of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) will participate as a co-exhibitor. Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) is supporting the Bangladesh Mission in Brussels in organizing the pavilion in a befitting manner.
Bangladeshi shrimp and other fish products already enjoy huge international credibility. Bangladeshi Black Tiger is reputed for its good look and unparallel taste. Experts attribute these to near-organic cultivation in a traditional method. However, during the last ten years, both the government and the private entrepreneurs have heavily invested in this sector for ensuring high quality and unquestionable food safety. During the last years, the focus has been on quality assurance rather than market expansion. However, from a minor non-traditional item of 1980s, shrimp of Bangladesh has developed into the second-highest foreign currency earner of the country by 2000. For example, between 2003 and 2004, export of Bangladeshi shrimp to Belgium rose by 24 percent.
Bangladesh Pavilion in ESE 2005 will offer international buyers, processors and distributors of fish products an opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with the Bangladeshi producers and exporters. This event offers an opportunity for them to make maximum business contacts in a very short period of time.
Embassy of Bangladesh invites ESE participants and visitors to make it convenient to visit Bangladesh Pavilion in order to establish the right contacts and negotiate deals in a very efficient manner. Last year, orders negotiated on the spot was in the range of US 20 million dollar.
We all look forward to meeting you at Bangladesh Pavilion at Stand No 4317 in Hall 9.
