Bangladesh National Pavilion

European Seafood Exposition 2010

Stand 4413 : Patio : Brussels Expo

Like previous years, Bangladesh is participating in the European Seafood Exposition (ESE) 2007 to be held in Brussels on 24 – 26 April 2007 with the aim of establishing the country as a unique global source of high-quality fish and shrimp products. This year, Bangladesh Pavilion, located at Stand 4413 in the PATIO of the Brussels Expo, will host between 55 and 65 Bangladeshi producers, exporters and buying agents.

Bangladesh National Pavilion will be officially opened at 11 am on 24 April 2007 by the Commerce Secretary of the country Mr. Feroz Ahmed. Ambassador of Bangladesh to Belgium H. E. Mr. A. H. M. Moniruzzaman will be present.

It may be underscored that a Reception followed by buffet Dinner has been organized to take place in the evening of 25 April 2007 which will provide an additional opportunity for business to business (B2B) dialogue between the Bangladeshi suppliers and international buyers who will come to participate in ESE 2007.

Bangladesh Pavilion will be set up under the auspices of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) will participate with an official delegation comprising 23 member-companies. Like last three years, this year too, Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) is supporting the Bangladesh Embassy in Brussels in decorating and organizing the pavilion in a befitting manner.

Bangladeshi shrimp and other fish products already enjoy huge international credibility. Bangladeshi Black Tiger is reputed for its good look and unparallel taste. Experts attribute these to near-organic cultivation in a traditional method. Indeed Bangladesh’s Black Tiger is the most naturally farmed shrimp in the world.

Yet, during the last ten years, both the government and the private entrepreneurs have heavily invested in this sector for ensuring high quality and unquestionable food safety. During the last years, particular focus has been on quality assurance rather than market expansion. No wonder that from a minor non-traditional item of 1980s, shrimp of Bangladesh has developed into the second-highest foreign currency earner of the country by 2000. For example, between 2003 and 2006, export of Bangladeshi shrimp to Belgium rose by 29 percent.

Bangladesh Pavilion in ESE 2007 will offer international buyers, processors and distributors of fish products a unique opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with the Bangladeshi producers and exporters. This event offers an opportunity for them to make maximum business contacts in a very short period of time.  In ESE 2006, international buyers placed purchase contracts of a value of USD 34 million on the spot.

Embassy of Bangladesh in Brussels invites all ESE participants and visitors to make it convenient to visit Bangladesh National Pavilion in order to establish the right contacts and negotiate deals in a very efficient manner.

We all look forward to meeting you at Bangladesh National Pavilion at Stand No 4413 in the PATIO of Brussels Expo.
